Chicago Ridge takes its name from ridges left behind when trainloads of dirt were brought out by the Wabash Railroad during construction of the Columbian Exposition of 1893. It is a Village that prides itself on homes and neighborhoods that are well kept and amply protected by its police and fire services. Over the years, recreational and cultural amenities including parks and a library, as well as business and industry have been built and continue to grow in Chicago Ridge.
