Tips for Sanitizing Your Ford near Chicago, IL
If it’s been a while since you thoroughly cleaned out your Ford, we have some tips and tricks that can help you do so! Our team at Bill Kay Ford put together a short list of recommendations that will get your vehicle sparkling and germ-free. Read on to learn more, and please contact us with your questions.
The first step to sanitizing the inside of your vehicle is to take out any extraneous papers, sports equipment, or bags. Once your automobile is empty, you can begin taking out the floor mats. Those can be hosed down with water, while your carpet is vacuumed. On any flat surfaces, such as your dashboard, storage trays, or cupholders, we recommend wiping down with either a microfiber cloth soaked in a simple soap and water solution or a disinfectant wipe. Avoid any alcohol-based solutions, as they are abrasive and can strip your vehicle’s components of their finishes. Once your surfaces are done, you can get to your seating. Cloth seating should be brushed down or vacuumed, while leather should be treated with leather conditioner or other gentle oils. Finally, your windows can be rid of any scum with an automobile-specific glass cleaner and a microfiber towel.
We also suggest cleaning the outside of your Ford! Taking your ride to the nearest car wash or washing it yourself can help get rid of months worth of caked-on grime and grit from repeated road trips, work commutes, and more. If you want to wash your car yourself, we have a few tips. Gather up a hose, bucket, soap, sponges, towels, and wax. Don’t aim the hose right at the car with a strong jet of water, otherwise you will risk chipping the paint. Instead, fill up your bucket with soapy water and sponge your Ford down, top to bottom! After a rinse and dry, it’ll be ready for waxing. That will leave it shining and ready for your cruises through the neighborhood.
Once your vehicle is squeaky clean, there are a few other things that you can do to keep it this way. First, we recommend keeping a designated trash receptacle inside your car, whether it’s a small can or just a plastic bag for waste. Next, always keep a few items ready in your cabin that can help you sanitize after you’ve been out and about. A short list would include paper towels, hand sanitizer, and wet wipes. Finally, performing a quick 10- to 15-minute clean out every month or so will ensure that dirt doesn’t pile up inside your vehicle, and that it stays fresh year-round.
We hope that these tips for sanitizing your Ford near Chicago, IL, come in handy while you’re cleaning out your car or truck. Give us a call at Bill Kay Ford anytime if you want to speak to one of our representatives! We’re always happy to help.
